In a busy restaurant, successfully fulfilling orders through one channel is a challenge, and three is a miracle. And yet Jules Ngankou, owner of Florida-based Amore Pizzeria, manages dine-in service, delivery, and pick-up orders… at the same time! His secret? Jules has an innovative POS system at his fingertips – a platform that manages all of his orders, sales, and activities. With Otter POS by its side, Amore Pizzeria doesn’t face the restaurant world’s usual obstacles and difficulties alone. It overcomes them with top-class hardware, support, and features, letting Jules and his team craft Florida’s best Italian cuisine.

To get a deeper understanding of how Amore Pizzeria uses and benefits from Otter POS, we caught up with Jules directly. During our interview, he discussed how Otter made managing his restaurant easier, and detailed what he values in restaurant tech. Jules also provided us with an in-depth look at his passions, background, and ambition, and showcased Amore Pizzeria’s delectable menu. We couldn’t think of a better way to continue our client highlight series than with this determined, hard-working pizzaiolo!

Tell us more about Amore Pizzeria. Where are you based, and what’s on your menu?

Jules: We’re located in Pinellas Park, Florida. We make pizza, pasta, subs, desserts, and cauliflower and gluten-free items. It all uses the concept of high-quality Italian cuisine. I have two businesses with Otter: Amore Pizzeria, which I launched myself, and Fortunato’s, which I bought.

What is your role at Amore Pizzeria?

I’m the owner and operational director for my main brand, Amore Pizzeria, and another restaurant, Fortunato’s. I lead my team’s day-to-day activities for both businesses, and manage our delivery channels through Uber Eats.

What inspired you to get into the restaurant industry?

I worked in the French restaurant industry for years before moving to the USA. I wanted to serve the same kind of pizza that I had cooked in France, so I decided to open my own pizzeria. First, I purchased another Italian eatery, then launched Amore Pizzeria alongside it.

What are some challenges you faced when Amore Pizzeria began?

The biggest challenge was getting used to the mores and customs of America. To grow my business, I had to overcome the language barrier, and offer new items on our menu and find different ways for customers to order.

How does Otter POS support Amore Pizzeria?

Otter as our POS system has been great for our restaurant! Their support team is always really responsive with every question, and they give detailed answers to help us with managing our deliveries and processing orders.

What do you feel is Otter POS’s best feature? Why?

It’s very simple and easy-to-use. It helps my team be more productive, and it’s functional. It connects with all the delivery apps we need too.

What’s a piece of advice that you’d like to give new restaurant owners?

Stick with Otter! It’s simple, efficient, and not expensive.

Amore Pizzeria offers dine-in, take-out, and delivery service. How do you manage all of these channels at the same time?

We have dedicated employees that manage take-out and delivery items, and use Otter’s UberEats integration to serve our customers at home. And our in-house staff manage tables and in-house orders with Otter’s dashboard, keeping the dining room organized and working quickly. The platform really supports our customer service efforts.

What do you feel is Amore Pizzeria’s best dish?

Of course it has to be our classic pizza – it’s very acclaimed by our customers! People really appreciate the wide variety of pasta we offer, too. Our appetizers and desserts are also very popular.

What’s next for Amore Pizzeria? What are your business’s goals?

We always have growth and expansion on our minds. Going forward, we want to increase our customer base by offering new menu items and really listening to what customers want so we can keep them coming back for more. We love hearing from our customers.

Over the next eight months, we also plan on adding ghost kitchens to our business. I’d like to boost our table turnover by 50% through the end of the year. Using ghost kitchens alongside Otter’s POS hardware will help us get the most out of our resources and increase our profits.
