Online Ordering: Loyalty account

What’s new: Your customers can now access their loyalty account through your Otter online ordering site. They’ll be able to sign up for your loyalty program if they’re not enrolled yet. Once they are, they can redeem their coupons directly for orders on your site, generate coupons for kiosk orders, and check their points balance.

This is now available for all customers with Loyalty and Online Ordering.

Why it matters: Previously, your customers had to save the link to their Loyalty portal. Now, they can easily access it by heading to your online ordering site. This means customers can sign up for your loyalty program more easily and use it more frequently than before, leading to more engaged customers and repeat orders.

Analytics: Simplified POS reports

What’s new: Reports for Otter POS customers will be simplified to make it easier to find what they need. These reports have been retired:

  • POS transactions
  • Direct orders
  • Sales
  • Tax

Newer reports have the same information that these older reports had. Worry not, you’ll be redirected to the new reports whenever you try to access the old ones.

Learn about the new Sales Summary and Taxes reports and check them out in Financials.

Why it matters: In the past, some reports contained identical information, making it difficult to find out exactly what you need. With this change, you’ll be much more efficient in analyzing your reports and ultimately get time back.

Otter POS: Payment method settings

What’s new: Otter POS users can start customizing what payment methods their terminals accept: cash, credit card, or manual card entry. This can be configured for the entire account or per location, per brand. Head to the POS app on your Otter Dashboard, select the brand or location, and go to the Payments section of the Terminals menu. Note that if no payment method is set or selected, all payment methods will be available by default.

Why it matters: Gain control over your POS so you can better fit it with your own policies.

Otter POS: Item-based splits

What’s new: Your cashiers can now split a check by item. Each guest will only pay their share of the bill. Each guest can still pay with their preferred payment method. You’ll see this new option upon checkout when selecting a payment method.

Why it matters: It’s now easier for both your guests and your cashiers to process payments. No more mental math needed to find out the share of each guest.

Loyalty: Credit card linked profile

What’s new: Guests can automatically earn loyalty points whenever they use a linked credit card to pay for their order. Your staff will no longer need to add a loyalty guest profile for every order, or have guests scan the QR code on their receipts.

Otter does not store any credit card information and uses Stripe’s best-in-class encryption to ensure security.  Learn how this works.

Why it matters: During peak hours, every second saved from processing orders may spell the difference between a guest waiting in line or deciding to leave. WIth this enhancement, taking orders is faster. Guests will also be delighted that they can check out faster while still earning points.
